Arsenal VG-70 and VG-90

Arseanl was a public firm funded in 1936.it was more an ingeneer pool than a firm, its aim was to make state-of-the-art prototypes. These planes would eventually be produced by others firms later.

The VG-70 flew in June 1948 still with a BMW-003 engine. Its aim was to study high-speed handling of swept-wings. This program could not be achieved because the plane was totally underpowered... it also have a ventral air intake, stiring everything on the tarmac...
Very few flights were made before the plane was abandoned in favor of the VG-90.

The VG-90 was a derivative of the VG-70 with lateral air intakes. Two were build as naval fighters for the future PA-28 Clemenceau. First flight was late 1949, but the program quickly ended in disaster. Flutters problems caused both prototypes to crash, killing Pierre Decroo in May 1950 and Claude Dellys in February 1952... third prototype was never implemented after that.

Arsenal was later taken over by Nord aviation, and its last project (a delta wing small research aircraft) eventually led to the highly successfull Gerfault in 1954.
