First french jet
The SO-6000 Triton was designed during WWII. At the begining, it was to received a Rateau TR-1A, first french turbojet. But this engine ended in failure, and the aircraft flew with a BMW-003 engine borrowed to a Me-262...
It was the 11/11/1946 at Orleans-Bricy, the flight was short and speed was 250 km/h only... but France had its jet, enfin!
Later, the plane was to become the first jet trainer of the AdA, which finally received much better T-33s (and Fouga Magister for basic training).
The Triton suffered of engines changes from the Rateau to the Nene, including BMW-003! It was nevertheless useful, and the program was led without casualties until 1950.
